Here you will find all the information you need about the work of the Chair of Empirical School and Classroom Research. Our range of tasks includes the following areas.

  • Research and scientific networking
    This includes the planning, implementation, evaluation and publication of empirical studies, especially with the help of the mobile laboratory for multimodal classroom videography, as well as participation in conferences of international professional societies (for example EARLI, GEBF, DGFE, ICLS, ...)

  • Teaching
    The professorship is responsible for the module „School as a field of practice and study“ (05-BWI-02) in the educational science part of all teacher training courses. In addition, courses are offered in other modules as well as courses on quantitative and qualitative research methods; the professorship is also responsible for the module „Introduction to the Methods of Qualitative Empirical Social Research“ in the supplementary studies (05-SQM-47/48). 

  • Supervision of thesis
    for example in the state examination

  • Cooperation with schools
    As part of our research work, we conduct studies in the classrooms of participating schools.

  • Cooperation within the faculty or the university
    We are involved in various networks within and outside the University of Leipzig, including the Leipzig Research Centre for Early Childhood Development (LFE), the Ethics Advisory Board and the Graduate Group „Social Interaction in the Teaching-Learning Context“ of the Research Academy Leipzig.
