Aims

The project aims to answer the question of how the school performance in German (reading and writing) of primary school pupils has developed over the Corona school years. For reading performance, it will also be examined whether the existing norms of a reading test (KNUSPEL-L, 1998) are still valid. Spelling performance is to be reviewed and norms not yet published are to be checked. The data on current reading and spelling performance will also be related to data from the past year since the development of the test procedures. To this end, primary school children (grades 1-4) in Leipzig will initially be examined in a pilot study at the end of the school year 2021/22 (June & July).

In parallel, questionnaires will be developed for parents and teachers to document how learning time at home was organised during the phases of school and class closures and in what form and to what extent didactic methods were used.
